  • I greet everyone with a smile and give them my time where possible. Just a smile, Hello, Thank you or a putting up your hand in thanks takes no time but gives so much. I listen and share with anyone that wants to talk. If I see anyone alone on a bench or in a cafe I ask if I can join them, e may talk of we may just sit together. I show respect, appreciation and gratitude to everyone I meet. We always part with a smile having shared something we would not have had we not given a moment of our time.

  • I studied piano as a child and stopped as a teen but continued an on, off relationship over the years. With my children becoming interested in music I missed having a piano in the house so went about seeking one for my 40th birthday present. I succeeded in finding a small overstrung one that fits in our lounge. I love practising and learning new tunes. With the internet, I have access to endless scores. My mind switches off when I practise and I love to hear the children recreating their own versions of what they are hearing.

  • Every week, I give warm food to a homeless man down the road. At first he used to be so withdrawn and fearful... 2.5 years have passed since we first met and now he stands with confidence, looks me in the eye and accepts the food. We have never spoken a word to each other, but in our hearts we feel warm. Now, my students accompany me to meet him every week. All of us feel happy :)

  • I work at a Sure Start Children's Centre in Nottinghamshire and support volunteers to run a PHEW! Group (Parents' Health & Emotional Wellbeing Group). Some of your resources and ideas will be used in the group to support Perinatal parents. Any additional materials/support would be appreciated. Thanks. I'm also using the resources to support my work team and like to think of myself as a bit of a wellbeing activist! I try to use the resources myself too.

  • I go to streets and people who are homeless I give them food and sometimes clothings I don’t give money because who knows if there going to use it on good or bad things like beer or alcohol.

  • I earn quite a lot so I make sure that there is always nice coffee and biscuits for the staff in my department. I also wash up a lot - it is a nice way to end the day - 5 minutes of mind rest before going home!

For 21 years I have been in charge of a voluntary job based on three cornerstones: 1) involve students from public and private schools; 2) also involve students with and without disabilities; 3) and develop cooperative and competitive physical activities in a balanced approach. In many countries, including my own, Brazil, we have an unbalance between individual and collective interests; the individual interest has been much more valuable than the collective one. This unbalance and way of thinking are not any good. It has been contribuiting for a concentration of richness in the hands of a very few people and poverty for the large majority. Let`s contribute for a better condicion of life for all!!! For example, in this Saturday, January 27th, I will be in a beach in Rio de Janeiro with a lot of students,living and enjoying one each other.   • I, Shaun Best, reduce usage of negatively defined terms like injured, disabled, retarded, handicapped, (disability environment terms) with positive encouraging terms like cognitively challenged, differently-abled, multiple intelligence's, etc. to believe achieve receive success, over brain trauma like the 3-month coma I endured at 12 in 1977, are there opportunities in your area for freedom of the mind? I activate, demonstrate, initiate, motivate, stimulate, & validate that some cognitive challenges may be conquered, but wiser if my & all parents use helmets on their youth's brains under the age of 18, when biking, etc. Every 20 seconds someone is forever harmed due to unwise decisions & this costs everybody. There has been a reduction of 18% according to the US Census Bureau in 2010 of brain injuries (negatively defined)/cognitively challenged (positively defined after recovery in hospital), which would make you feel best about your brain rehabilitation? The 18% represents roughly

  • When I am out in the countryside in May. The blues of the sky and greens of the trees seem to do me a lot of good. They make me feel profoundly 'there' and peaceful and appreciative of my presence on earth. I like the birdsong and the comfortable temperature of that time of year and am thankful that I live in a place with a mild climate.

  • I displayed the happiness posters throughout my workplace as a quality project in November 2017, and I sent out the kindness calendar for Dec 2017 to all the staff at my workplace and passed it onto friends. I sponsor children, I start up donation and fundraising activities to support a local shelter for women and children leaving domestic violence. I support my local church with donations of gifts for Christmas. I try to notice positive attitudes and behaviours in others, purposefully acknowledge them to the person they belong to. I like to laugh and see the funny side in times of stress or strife in my life.

  • A retired teacher and I run a free "store" called It's My Closet, for the students and the people who live with them in our school corporation. Everything we give away comes from community donations. We have messages posted around the store "Pay It Forward", Pay It Back", etc.

  • I always fight back beating the sad or angry feeling, you can't embrace it, so you have to fight it, In tough times I always look for things that make me happy again, my friends, my family, some kinda of humor, movies, music, whatever it is, that's actually how I found this website, I was fighting a sad time so I looked up for happy things in the internet and now I'm all better, trying to share this feeling with the world

  • From a couple of months ago I decided to change, to be who I WANT to be, and not care for what people say or talk about me, so I am a open minded person, I really enjoy humor, to be more expecific a simple and kind of dumb humor, but I always try to be honest about things, I desire to be a lawyer so I have to be honest, so I'm being as well in my life in general

  • Almost everything! I was very sedentary and ith no objective in life, now I'm at college, and working, that made me very busy and I'm very happy about it, and this past years I changed a lot for good, I'm accepting a lot of different things in my life and always proud of who did I become!!

  • My husband left me for another woman three months ago and ever since then my life have been filled with pains sorrow and heart break because he was my first love whom i have spent my entire life with.
